Interactive mapping portal accumulates information about more than 800 NGOs in Ukraine
The web portal www.ngomap.org.ua was launched 8 months ago in Ukraine. The purpose of the resource is to provide verified information about non-governmental organizations (NGOs) working with different target groups and regions.
The resource was created to improve coordination between donors, international, national and regional organizations, community activists and volunteers. According to users feedback, this information is also useful for media and recipients of assistance.
More than 30,000 unique users have already visited the web page, most users are from Kyiv, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Odesa, Zaporizhia, Lviv, Kramatorsk, Mariupol and Severodonetsk, as well as from the United States, Germany, the Netherlands, Russia, Poland and the United Kingdom.
At the moment, the resource includes more than 800 local, national and international NGOs operating in Ukraine in different spheres and for different target groups of beneficiaries. Kyiv and the eastern regions of Ukraine lead in the number of organizations represented.
This web portal enables you to review NGOs on a map, search by keywords, and filter by location, keywords, type of NGO and its main activities, target groups of beneficiaries, duration of operation, number of employees, source of funding. The information is available in English, Ukrainian and Russian. www.ngomap.org.ua was developed by Ukraine NGO Forum with the financial support of the British Embassy in Ukraine and USAID.
The unique feature of this web portal is the way of aggregating information. NGOs themselves had provided the information via online form, which was then verified and revised by phone. At this stage, 480 organizations submitted information about themselves through filling in questionnaires, and info about 320 other NGOs were collected and processed by resource developers. Collection of the information and development of the web page lasted for one year. The resource is continuously updating with information, new applications are accepted, as well as comments on the functional convenience of the web portal.
