The first in Ukraine specialized ‘English for NGOs’ course completed
Our first 4-month “English for NGO” course, which was held for NGO representatives who wanted to improve their language skills, has been recently completed. With the financial support of the Regional English Language Office of the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv, the course was designed specifically for representatives of NGOs working with the consequences of the conflict in eastern Ukraine.
In total, more than 500 classes were held for nearly 200 representatives from 64 different NGOs. The geography of the courses is also impressive, as they took place in 7 Ukrainian cities: Slavyansk, Kramatorsk, Severodonetsk, Mariupol, Dnipro, Kharkiv and Kyiv.
We tried to help NGO representatives improve their written and communicative skills as well as to enrich their professional vocabulary in order to enhance their knowledge of the basic humanitarian principles and humanitarian needs. Within these four months our participants learned how to write project proposals and reports, CVs and cover letters, they improved skills of business correspondence with donors, partners and stakeholders. In addition, we were preparing our participants for business conversations and meetings, presentations and speeches, conferences, trainings, interviews and exchanges of experiences as part of the communication course.
Within the project, Ukraine NGO Forum has developed a student’s book “English for NGOs”, which is a unique educational material that will be useful to all NGO representatives who want to improve their English. Course and book developers are: Nataly Sytnyk, Oksana Kharchenko, Oksana Kosenko, Anissa Toscano. We are glad to share with you the electronic version of the book:
P.S. Currently, we do not have the exact confirmation of another course from the donor, but we really hope that already in this fall we will be able to help you study English for your professional needs. Keep up to date with our news!
