Ukraine NGO Forum conducted a training on advocacy basics for NGOs
On September, 13th, the first training on advocacy for NGOs, organized by Ukraine NGO Forum and ACF, supported by USAID, took place in Kyiv.
12 participants from Kyiv and various regions of Ukraine had a day full of studying of advocacy basics and obtaining skills which can be used within their NGOs’ projects.
Trainers Antoine Terrien, Alyona Budagovska (ACF) and Tetyana Durneva shared their experience and knowledge. Antoine Terrien is actively involved in humanitarian issues for about 12 years, working in humanitarian organizations fighting natural disasters and armed conflicts aftermaths. The previous year he founded the office of the French humanitarian organization ACF in Ukraine. Alyona Budagovska also works in the humanitarian field, taking the active part in the advocacy activities of ACF. Tetyana Durneva is a well-known Ukrainian advocacy expert, head of the human rights protection activities at the All-Ukrainian civil organization “Committee of Voters of Ukraine”, and realized a high number of advocacy campaigns.
The participants had a chance to learn examples of the effective advocacy campaigns both on the international and national level, checked their understating of the theoretical issues about the advocacy strategy, its implementation, and criteria for choosing appropriate tools. Deep knowledge was mixed with active exercises and work in groups.

At the end of the training, participants got their certificates about the course completion and asked about possibilities for further training on more advanced advocacy issues.
